Bibles and Parcels to Express Our Heavenly Father’s Love

First thing yesterday, Father’s Day 2020, four of us set out to the informal settlement where we have been weekly leading more than 40 children in Sunday School. During lockdown, we have not been able to go like before, so this was a special visit to let them know they are loved and remembered, and point their precious hearts towards Jesus and His Love once again. They were thrilled to see us!

The night before, we prepared parcels and sandwiches, as well as a quantity of Bibles. We took the older group to one side, and explained again the importance of connecting with Jesus through the Bible and how it is all about His Love for us, and how we can love both Him and others! Then each one got their own Bible, in the language of their preference, marked with their name, the date, and some passages to start with. Some immediately began reading, with obvious delight!

Meantime, the younger group was excitedly participating in scripture songs and dancing! Then, with smiling faces and close-clutched Bibles, they all made a line to receive their parcels; more than one gasping in joy as they examined the contents – instant maize cereal, milk, potatoes, apples, and sandwiches!

We are so grateful to be a part of these children’s lives, and show them that, whatever their personal troubles or circumstances, they have an Eternal and Very Loving Father who will never leave them.
