Mass Food Distribution – Klein Akker

We had a wonderful, yet heartbreaking time with the dear people of the Klein Akker settlement. We have been bringing food, clothes, blankets, shoes, and household items to this community for over 8 years – then recently they were evicted off the farm by the landowner. Thankfully, most of them found a place to rebuild just a few km down the road, yet are starting again with practically nothing. Older, younger, pregnant, and disabled, they all are battling for basic human rights such as running water, electricity, and shelter. Many are sleeping in tiny one-man or children’s tents, and have no guarantee that they’ll be able to remain long term on their new farm.

We brought fresh food and vegetables, bread, and a message of hope that they are not forgotten, and the Lord has plans for each one of them. One dear elderly man (wheelchair bound) said to us “you know, when I saw your van turn off the main road to come down here, I said to myself, “that must be Helping Hand!” How encouraging (and convicting) to know that we are both remembered and expected. We’ll be returning soon with more supplies and baby parcels.
