Christmas Means Love – Event for Destitute Farm Community

For the many (predominantly white and coloured) families recently evicted from their long term farm home, Christmas might not have come at all if not for this special event!

In their new temporary informal settlement, they live an extremely hard life, without even their basic needs.
Sadly, because of this, they can tend to feel disheartened and forgotten; or even worthless. We wanted to change that perception!

In addition to helping them with foodstuffs and hygiene supplies throughout the last months, for Christmas we wanted to remind them that God does care, and loves them greatly. That’s why we wanted to make each person food parcel special; a Christmas hamper!

Each parcel contained fresh food – apples, mealies, bread, potatoes, and chicken – as well as tins of tuna, beans, and veg, soup mix, pasta, juice and cookies. Then we added candles and a goodie bag of treats for all an an inspirational Activated magazine.

And what is Christmas without presents? There were knitted teddies for the little ones and board games for the older children.

Most joyously, 140 people of the settlement prayed with us as they chose to give their hearts to Jesus; the best Christmas gift ever!

What sweet and precious people, and how glad we are to bring Christmas’ Love to them in this way.

None of this would happened without your generous support. Thank you SO much for making this possible! You are wonderful!
