Goodbye to a year so full of strife,
Of pain, of joy, of love, and life,
Of yearning, and learning, and smiles, and tears,
Of sowing, and growing, and comfort, and fears,

Behind me, now, it all remains,
And I move forward, bearing the stains,
Time enjoyed, and spent, and gone,
One year’s dusk is next year’s dawn,

Hello to challenges yet unfaced,
Stories untold, and races unraced,
People unmet, and souls to be won,
Lessons not learned, and places not gone,

Ahead of me, yet, it all awaits,
As I look forward, on unfettered dates,
Time to be used, claimed, redeemed,
In better ways than ever dreamed.
