Valentine’s Day in the Netherlands

Here are some photos and a note from Suzanne and her son Caleb – members of Helping Hand in the Netherlands. God bless them! (Suzanne) Valentine’s Day! – Such a great opportunity to let people know that there’s Someone whose Heart overflows with love for them, sees endless possibilities in them and can’t wait to spend every second of the day with them. On this dark and cold winter night many faces lit up as they received Jesus’ declaration of love to them personally, accompanied by a little sweet sample. What a privilege to drop a little love into people’s hearts, and offer them the opportunity to meet the Love of their life, and beyond…”

Valentine’s with the Elderly

The little Helping Hand members went to a nearby retirement village for Valentine’s day – bringing flowers and a hug for each resident! Time and again, these dear senior citizens told us how much this little gesture meant to them. Love really is the most important thing, for God IS Love. ( 1 John 4:8, John 3:16)

Ice Skating with Overseas Missionaries

Once in a while, we try to arrange a special outing for the youth of Helping Hand. This week we were privileged to have a missionary from Mexico and his daughter ( who were visiting ) accompany us to the ice skating rink! We all had a great time and even learned some new skating tips and tricks from this wonderful man – who has dedicated decades of his life to spreading the Gospel in Mexico. Praise God for friends and fun!

A Wedding!

On the 10th of January we celebrated the joining together as husband and wife of Chris and Ester with a beautiful meaningful ceremony! Thank you to Jesus and to each and every person that helped make this day so special!

Unexpected Treat – An Ice Cream Donation

The phone rang – a sudden call from a local factory shop! The lady on the line asked us to come pick up 80 tubs of assorted ice cream, wow! What  a special treat! When we got there and started loading, however, it turned out to be more than double that amount! The whole van was filled with ice cream; quality dessert which we distributed to multiple centres the same day. At one institution for women and children in crisis, the house mother nearly broke down in tears of joy when we arrived. She explained that she had just sent someone to the local store to buy a single tub of ice cream. She quickly recalled them,  and we all rejoiced in God’s perfect timing and abundant provision! Every place was able to have a much as they needed, which proves that God loves to supply not only our needs, but even our “extra” desires.

Happy New Year!

A new year and many more days that we can use to learn and grow. We all will face challenges this year, just as we did last year; but God’s Love will surround us throughout every second, minute, hour, day, and month of 2015! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas Day Open House

As family and friends gathered together to enjoy the Christmas meal, we opened our home to those who had no one with whom to celebrate and share this special event. While we were putting the finishing touches on the turkey and gravy, the homeless began arriving at our gate. Volunteers joined us and helped serve food, pack parcels, and put toys together, as everyone took their seats at the table prepared for them in the garden. The meal was enjoyed by all and the atmosphere was somewhat of a miracle in itself. Rather than it being like a feeding scheme or a soup kitchen, it had the feel of a royal banquet. As indeed it was; a celebration of the birth of the King of kings, and a feast enjoyed by his subjects. The rough people from unfortunate circumstances behaved like lords and ladies and the conversation was lively and centered on the Lord and His wonderful love for us all. A special touch of love was the beautiful doll the Lord supplied for the only child that was there. A little homeless girl who accompanied her mother to the meal was thrilled to receive this Christmas gift – quite possibly the only one she had been given. The Christmas spirit was powerful that day, as we ate, talked, laughed, and celebrated Jesus Great Love together!
