Carols by Candlelight 2014

There is something wonderfully beautiful and extremely powerful about Christmas. It brings heaven back into our thoughts and lives. Because of this, we often find Christmas music some of the most resonant and peaceful to listen to. On Sunday we were all invited to a Carols by Candlelight service in a nearby garden. We had an amazing time as we joined more than a thousand others in fellowshipping, singing, and praising God for the miracle of Christmas. Young and old, we were blessed to be there!

Christmas Cheer for Disabled Children

What a wonderful time we had last week; spending time interacting with and giving gifts to the children of the Sive Nathi care centre. These children are severely mentally and physically disabled, and have very little opportunity to enjoy life in the ways we are accustomed to: walking, dressing themselves; even talking is almost impossible. Thanks to donations, we were able to give foodstuffs to the centre, as well as a toy for each child. We brought along some bubble blowing bottles (thank you C!) and soft cuddles, balls, etc. Each child was able to get something they liked! The bubbles especially were a huge hit and the children loved watching them float around and attempting to pop them. Also, we put up inspiring and colourful posters in each bedroom and the therapy classrooms; in order to give them some positive input.

Annual Celebration 2014

What an amazing year 2014 has been! We had a wonderful time celebrating all the Lord has done for us during the last year! The children performed songs and plays, the teenagers sang and danced, and we were able to show an audio-visual overview of the outreaches and projects of 2014. There were snacks and refreshments and it was a time of enjoying each other’s company. The afternoon was hosted as a way to show our thanks and appreciation for all the prayers and backing we receive from our dear friends, supporters, and sponsors throughout the year. Thanks also goes to all those that donated their funds, equipment, or time to make this celebration a success! God bless you!

Boerewors Stand for Quadriplegic Home

This past weekend we helped a local quadriplegic home with manning their boerewors stand – which they set up as a fund-raiser for their centre. On a rotational basis, we took turns helping to cook and interact with those coming to the stand. The fair the stand was at at was open both days until midnight, and we had a fairly steady flow of people. Today we were happy to hear that they were reached their fund-raising goals and it was a success! We feel privileged to be able to help these dear residents keep their centre open and running well.  We hope you enjoy these pictures of the event.
