Bread, jam, and margarine was packed in bags for distribution to the homeless on Youth Day. Our young volunteers were cheerful and eager to do all the work, God bless them. We set out with two teams of young people to distribute the bags and were touched by the positive response. Not only were people happy to get the food, they were equally thrilled to receive a message of God’s love to go along with it. We spent some wonderful time talking with and listening to the people we met. It was inspiring to see young people motivated and willing to spend their time helping others.

Food Items for Disabled
Sive Nathi, a centre for mentally and physically disabled children, is one of our regular beneficiaries. On this visit we added fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, maize meal, Weet-bix cereal, meat, juice, and rice to their pantry. Also included were rolls of tissue paper and nappies. This centre serves some of the most demanding disabled individuals, and being able to reduce their monthly food budget with such donations brings us great joy!
Special Event for Lentegeur Patients
We spent a wonderful day at the rehabilitation center of the Lentegeur hospital this week. The event was organized by the staff and students of UCT and was a special time of fun and relaxation for the patients and their families. We were able to assist with food and snacks, games, and one-on-one interaction with the patientsThe different games were tailored to the specific limitations of the para-and quadriplegic patients and it was thrilling to see the excitement and friendly competition that was all around. Patients, visitors and staff cheerfully competed in karaoke, board games, and other games and events. Many participated in the blow-dart tournament and a few of the patients did very well indeed! As the crowd cheered and clapped the patients glowed with pride and the positive atmosphere was almost tangible. Buckets filled with sweets were placed in the middle of the hallway where patients tried to toss a tennis ball in them, receiving a sweet as a prize for every hit. Some patients went away with an entire lap full of sweeties; much to their delight! Two of us organized the face-painting, which was a real hit. The ladies loved being painted as beautiful butterflies with sparkles and glitter, while the men were more interested in a springbok and sports motif. Whatever the design, everyone felt special and we couldn’t have asked for more.We were also able to spend time with the patients personally, laughing, (and sometimes crying) and were so touched by their earnest humility in accepting their situation, however difficult. In the end, we felt that it was the patients that were teaching us and blessing us with their example; not the other way around. We were left with a profound gratitude for the many blessings we receive in our lives, not the least of Read the full article…
Students and Mothers Receive Food
Bread -which represents a staple food in much of the world- is always in demand. Bags of donated rolls were received with thankful hearts and big smiles by these schoolchildren. The mothers waiting at a local clinic were also given these fresh rolls, and we pray they will go far, not only filling the physical need for food, but also the spiritual need for love. We try to show these little ones that Someone cares about them, and that Someone is Jesus!
Fresh Fruit and Veg
The distribution of hundreds of kilos of fresh fruit and vegetables enable us to continue to supplement the diet of many HIV/AIDS patients at various centres; soup kitchens, creches, clinics, orphanages, and homes for the handicapped. For optimum health it is imperative for these patients to have the addition of fresh food to their daily meals. We are grateful to our sponsors for their faithful contributions.
Township Bread Distribution
This local township – comprised largely of day laborers and their families- is one beneficiary of our outreaches. Going here enables us to reach many different families at one time. Here you see the children and adults happily receiving bread. We are grateful to have the resources through you, our donors and sponsors, to make an impact and show love to these people!
Extra Blessings
What a terrific blessing it was to get a load of special foodstuffs – bacon, viennas, pasta, butter, and cheese! These items were a perfect addition to our beneficiaries’ regular allocations of food, and showed once again just how much God loves each of us! He often provides not just the bare necessities, but even extras!
