Christmas – Township Event
Hundreds of mothers and children thrilled to the gifts of bags, toys, plastic cups, juice, onions, potatoes, carrots, bread, dried fruit, sweets, and a Gospel pamphlet! It is our hope and prayer that each of these families will experience a better Christmas because of this event. A big thanks to our sponsors!
Packing Goodie Bags!
Helping Hand members and volunteers packed over 1600 goodie bags, and distributed them to underprivileged children in townships, creches, a hospital, and crisis care centres. Each of the children received a toy along with their treats.
One Day, Three Centres
Each of these three centres received a load of duck meat, clothes, toys, shoes, cutlery and other useful items!
Christmas – Children’s Convalescent Hospital
Our team brought toys to all the children of this convalescent hospital. The smiles from these dear little ones -many of whom are either orphans or will be spending Christmas recovering instead of at home – brought a real warm fuzzy feeling to our hearts. We know that a little love goes a long way, and our hope and prayer is that they felt that love through the interaction and gifts.
Christmas Time – A Special Event for 250 Children!
We organised an event for 200 children in Scotsdene, Cape Town, and brought along extra toys and sweets, just in case. In the end, there was enough for all 250 children – praise God! Each child got a little bag, a toy, a goodie bag of sweeties, and a packet of dried fruit. Amy also shared the story of Christmas with all the children, and the whole group accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour! What a happy day! A big thank you to the sponsors of the toys, bags, and goodies! You brought Christmas to a lot of little ones!
Breakfast and Gifts for Women in Crisis
The ladies from a centre for pregnant women in crisis were treated to a special breakfast. ( at which they could order anything they wanted) Little cravings like a cappuccino or bacon were satisfied, and there was lively conversation all around. Also given to each one was a gift hamper with beauty products, an umbrella, an inspirational Activated magazine and a porcelain doll. One of the ladies began weeping when the gifts were handed out. After some time, we found out that it was the first doll she had ever had. What a touching scene, and how grateful for our blessings it made us. Within minutes, each lady had named her own doll, and was holding it close. Thank you to our friends and sponsors for making these women’s Christmas a glad and memorable one! School Backpacks for the New Year
To encourage the children to study and help them be ready for the 2016 school year, we gave new donated schoolbags -water bottles included- to 100 children in a local informal settlement. As excited as the children were, it was clear their moms were even more thrilled to see the Lord supply this necessary item for their children.
