“There are hundreds of jars of peanut butter here for you to collect” was the request we received. What a wonderful surprise! Besides distributing the peanut butter to several centres and feeding schemes, the patients at the local government clinic each received a jar to take home. We also left the staff with extra jars to use in the feeding of TB patients. All were thankful for this useful food staple!

Mommy and Baby Day
Mothers and children were delighted when we arrived at the local day clinic on Mommy’s and Baby’s day – and gave each child there the chance to try on some clothes and shoes. Happy mothers and little ones left with new items,; even whole sets of clothing! We know the shoes and clothes will be much needed during the coming winter months, and are so grateful to our sponsors for donating them!
Sorting Shoes
Our three young volunteers spent the morning sorting these shoes into pairs, sizes, and types. They will be distributed soon!
Sive Nathi Care Centre Outing
Can you imagine not being able to walk or talk; not even to communicate your feelings or desires? Try to think what it would be like to be completely dependent on others for your every need. The patients of the Sive Nathi center face these limitations every single day and rarely get a change to have a change of pace or scenery. It is for this reason we committed to taking them -and the staff that so lovingly cares for them- on a special outing once again. In these photos we’d like to share with you the thrill it was to see their faces light up with enjoyment over things as simple as a colourful balloon or some bubbles; to share with them some special treats like cake and custard or some fruit yogurt (only soft foods can be given). The scenery of the beautiful Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West totally captivated these children who spend most of their time bed-ridden. As we walked around the reserve with them, noticing their reactions to the trees and leaves, we felt as if our own eyes had been opened for the first time to the beauty around us, and our hearts to the many, many blessings in our lives! A heart-felt thank you to the volunteers and sponsors who made this event a success. It was a wonderful day, in every way!
Many Loaves of Bread!
Unexpectedly, a company donated over 1800 loaves of specialty bread! They were distributed to an underprivileged primary school, two quadriplegic centres, and multiple soup kitchens.
A Baby is Born!
Early this morning Jean and Kristina welcomed the latest addition to their family into the world; a beautiful baby girl; Anna-Mae Loïs! She was born at 5:45am and weighed a healthy 3.6kg! Mommy and daughter are well and Daddy, brothers, and sisters are delighted! Psalm 127:3 “Children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”
Baby Formula, Crackers, Cereal, and Other Goods
Our team spent time with the children and women at these centres for disadvantaged families and recovering little ones. Thanks to donors they received baby formula, cereal, crackers, cooking oil, bread, sauces, and other needed items. We are so blessed to be able to assist in this way.
Sorting Clothing and Shoes
The youth of Helping Hand helped with the sorting, folding, and repacking of many pairs of shoes and clothing items. These items will be distributed to various institutions and individuals throughout Cape Town.
