The football tournaments in Lesotho were a massive success and sample of the Love of Jesus! Everyone worked hard and happily to prepare the fields for use – marking out lines, hanging nets, and leveling ground as best they could. Then the medals, trophies, awards, sports clothing, and snacks all came together to make such professional and special events, and we could clearly see how valued the children and communities felt to be part of such an official tournament. They could hardly take their eyes off the table of prizes, or wait to have their turn on the field!
Each team was so sportsmanlike and friendly to the others, and everyone played with all their hearts!
(The fact that David as an official ref was in charge was especially loved and mentioned by community members, as not only did it show the care of coming all the way to be part of the tournament, but also helped there not be bias as there would be if someone from one or the other villages was ref. And David put in long hours, reffing FOUR games back-to-back in one of the tournaments. God bless him)
Amazing happy energy and success!!! (And perfect weather too!!) Each team – win or lose – got a brand new football to take home to their village! There was even enough sports clothing to give to the local netball team of one village – which thrilled them!)
