There is a place off the highway between two towns where even the taxi service doesn’t run. There is no clinic, no church, no school. Some of the residents of this settlement walk for 3-4 hours just to get to their workplace, and then back again. It’s a hard and unforgiving location, but not without hope. And hope has sprung in the form of a preschool centre set up by a dear woman who has a vision for the future. She plans to build a whole community area eventually – with the structures and services that are presently missing.
We are so glad to have been able to assist her and the project with educational materials for children, a set of quality kitchenware, and foodstuffs for both the children and the community members. Those in the settlement can “earn” a food parcel by doing their part to keep things clean, work in the startup vegetable garden, or assist in other ways. In this way they are both benefited and a benefit.
God bless this lady and others like her who work to make our world a better place, one step at a time. We look forward to partnering more as time goes on.
