AIDS/TB Clinic- Patient Parcels

Both proper nutrition and true hope play a role in recovery. At the Morningstar Clinic, we try to fulfill both these needs throughout the year by supplying them with fresh produce, rolls, loaves, and Gospel pamphlets. Research has shown that the health of HIV/AIDS patients who don’t have access to fresh fruit and vegetables deteriorates more rapidly than those who do have their nutritional needs met. Those who do are able to live longer, happier, and more productive lives. This Christmas season, in addition to the regular drop-offs, we decided to try and make it special for those coming for checkups and medicine. We made early morning trips on consecutive days, bringing snacks, cool drinks, treats, and presents. Over 300 families benefited from this initiative, and we pray it made this Christmas more memorable one for each of them! More Pictures HERE

Outing for Disabled Children

The children of the Sive Nathi centre are different from most. They are severely mentally and physically disabled, and have very little opportunity to enjoy life in the ways we are accustomed to: walking, dressing themselves; even talking is almost impossible. Each year we try to bring some joy and excitement into these wonderful children’s lives by taking them on an outing; away from their usual “four walls and a roof”. This year we, once again,  chose the beautiful Helderberg Nature Reserve for the event. Arriving at Sive Nathi in a big red luxury coach( each child must have a seat belt for traveling) we were met with delighted children and staff. We carried the children in one by one, and stored the wheelchairs in the bus luggage compartment and our Kombi van. Although these children are not able to express themselves, by their excited reactions as we carried them to their place under the trees, we could tell they remembered the reserve from the previous year . The weather was perfect; warm and sunny with a pleasant breeze. We found on previous outings that the children really enjoy watching the leaves move in the wind, so this location with lots of trees was ideal! We pushed them around the reserve in their wheelchairs, and let them soak in the beauty of the scenery. Because of their condition, they are limited to soft foods, so we treated them to chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and custard. Then they each recieved a lovely cuddle toy to keep them company-pink for the girls and blue for the boys. Their sweet smiles and joyful eyes, looking back and forth in wonder said more than words ever could. We are so thankful to have been able to show these little ones some Christmas care, and Read the full article…

Christmas Event for Informal Klipheuwel Community

Since learning of this small, neglected community – comprised mostly of unemployed men and women- with many children that have never known a life away from tin roofs, cardboard blankets, and daily hunger, we have taken them on as one of our dear projects. This Christmas, thanks to our sponsors and a company which donated the wonderful toys, we were able to give over 1200 snack packages, cool drinks, presents, and Gospel pamphlets. Each child received a gift and all babies a box of special crackers. The looks on the faces of these sweet people and their thankful words reminded us once again of the true purpose of Christmas. It is to love as you would like to be loved, and in doing so, honouring Jesus, the first and best Christmas Present ever! More Pictures HERE

Christmas at the Creche

We had a wonderful time with the underprivileged children of this creche in Morningstar; playing games, giving gifts, serving snacks, and sharing the Christmas spirit with these sweet little ones, who otherwise would have little to enjoy this season. We hope and pray that the love and care shown will linger in each child’s heart-affecting their lives and ultimately their communities in a positive way!

The Children of Rawsonville

Partnering with a dear teacher who wanted to bring something special to the children of Rawsonville and surrounding farms, we organized an event for 330 children comprised of: -An unique present for each child -A movie of Bible stories shown on the projector -Hot dogs and ice cream -An orange draw-string bag packed with sweets and naks All the children were also given the opportunity to receive Jesus as their personal Saviour! We now know that wherever they may come from, and wherever they will go, Jesus will be in their hearts and lives! We  pray that this event will be a joyful Christmas memory for each of these precious children.
