Creche Christmas Event

The Jack and Jill creche in Morningstar received a surprise visit from us on Monday. Our teenagers played games with all the little ones there, causing lots of excitement and laughter. (there are forty children, aged 2-5) Then, after treating them to a special snack, it was time for….Christmas presents!!! It was great fun to see the little faces light up as names were called out and the children were given their gifts. Forty little children waited until all the presents were handed out; and then the unwrapping began! Chocolates and games were sweetly shared and toys were carefully put away to be taken home. As the main teacher shared the touching background and personal stories of some of the children we were grateful to have been able to add a little cheer to these little ones’ lives this Christmas season.

Christmas Projects’ Preparation

Getting everything ready for the Christmas Outreach projects is part of the fun for us. This year we aim to provide chocolates and toys to around 5000 children. Packaging toys and treats for this amount of people takes the help of many, young and old. A huge thank you to all the volunteers that so cheerfully assisted in this year’s Christmas preparation. We’re ready to roll!! (Note: Not all volunteers are pictured here. But we appreciate you ALL! Thank you.)

Flowers and Smiles for the Elderly

Out of the blue we were given 40 bunches of roses, which led us to think where they would be most appreciated. We decided to take five of the little ones out to a local home for the elderly and give each resident a bunch of these beautiful flowers with an inspirational Activated magazine. The smiles and hugs that resulted left us and them with warmth in our hearts and the knowledge that Jesus was the One who organized it all.

Daisy’s Wheelchair

Mrs. Daisy, (so nicknamed since childhood because she loved picking the little flowers and spending as much time outdoors as possible) beams with pride as she receives a brand-new wheelchair from Helping Hand volunteers John and Ester. Her previous wheelchair had been so well-used that it had become completely beyond repair. Thank you Dr. N for donating this very needed piece of equipment!

Once Upon a Day…

We traveled many kilometres delivering food parcels to hundreds of families. We visited disadvantaged neighbourhoods, an informal settlement, and a farming community. At the end of this long and exciting day we had distributed food (along with Gospel pamphlets) to nearly 450 families; affecting approximately 1700 people! A beautiful day in all ways; great weather, warm smiles, and sunny faces!

Community Craft Market

A local restaurant opened its doors to host a children’s craft market last Saturday. Some of our children joined and gave out Gospel tracts and Activated magazines along with their home-made candles and Yarn-lanterns. Although the weather turned rainy and we had to seek shelter under umbrellas, we had lots of fun and we met many interesting people.

Convalescent Children’s Christmas Cheer

We did our best to bring the Christmas spirit to Sarah Fox Convalescent Hospital; giving every child a present, snacks, and attention. These children will be spending Christmas at the hospital, away from their friends and family, so we are so thankful to have been empowered (thanks to the toys donors and other local individuals) to give them a “real” Christmas -not only with the toys and snacks, but the love and care that every child on Earth deserves. The staff received a box of donated chocolates and an inspirational magazine each; which, by their smiles and hugs, we could tell made their day special as well! More Photos Here
