Grahamstown Testimonies

(Note) At the festival we gave out thousands of tracts/pamphlets. It is our aim to explain the Gospel in an attractive, up-to-date manner. AntTracts are specific and pointed. They use present-day scenarios and language that are “in sync” with today’s attitudes and life-situations. All of them present Jesus’ Salvation as the solution, in a positive, helpful, up-beat, and often humorous way. They are not all “new” but have been in circulation in many mission fields for a number of years and have been proven to bear good fruit (positive results) in the hearts and lives of receptive readers. They are available on the site for download, free of charge.

(Chris) We watched a documentary about some missionaries in India and how the Lord gave one of them a dream and told him to go into such-and-such a town and he would meet a man with a white beard, orange robe, and turban. And so he did and, lo and behold, there the man was! Even more amazing, when he started to share the Gospel with him, this man told him that he had ALSO had a dream with the missionary’s face and that he would meet him. Because of this, he was eager to listen to the missionary and gave his life to Jesus. Wonderful!

We were all very inspired by this and so, after the movie, we prayed that the Lord would do things like that for us and prepare people that night for meeting us the next day.

The next morning I met an artist on the street and started telling him about the Lord. After talking for a few minutes he said, “You know what, I had a dream last night that I would quit smoking, and that I would find the reason to quit today.” WOW! He ended up praying to receive Jesus into his life, and we exchanged details. God is alive and working just as powerfully today as ever!

(David, 16) I got a nudge from the Lord to give an “Imitation Salvation” comic tract to a woman standing outside one of the tents. She didn’t look very receptive, very much ‘in’ and ‘hip’, with a leather jacket and smoking a lot, so I didn’t really ‘want’ to give it to her. But finally I managed to muster enough courage to give it to her, and as I walked away I could hear her laughing over it. She really liked it! As I watched, she called over the man from the next stall and showed it to him too! Then she read it aloud to her friend from the other stall; showing it or reading it to all of her friends in turn. I pray it will have a large impact on her life. Thank the Lord I obeyed His leading.

(Aphelele) Met a young man and after a conversation he invited me to his house to meet some of his family. When I got there it turned out the one man was blind and they wanted me to pray for him -kind of as a test of Jesus, I think. We all gathered round and I prayed for him to be healed. After we prayed he said ” I can see shapes and shadows.” I said “well, let’s pray for full recovery!” So we all prayed again and then when he opened his eyes we handed him a Bible and he looked down and READ from it! A miracle! Praise the Lord! Then the man I was originally speaking with and the whole family received Jesus! Praise God.

(Ester) I was sitting down and this young guy with piercings all over and quite oddly dressed saw the pamphlets I was holding and asked if he could have one. I gave him one and he read it through as he walked off. A few minutes later I bumped into him on the street again and he was looking at the selection of different pamphlets in my hand, wanting more. He really liked them and said he’d like to collect them all! It turned out he was from Australia so the message of Jesus’ Love will be literally spreading abroad!

(John) One day, I talked to a young person about the Lord. We talked about many topics, his studies, interests, the Bible, etc. At the end of our talk he explained that he did not feel ready to accept Jesus right then and there but he gladly accepted when I offered to pray for him. When I finished he gave me a big hug and said, “That’s just what I needed!”  He left with a big smile and a tract with the salvation message. The seed of the message of God’s love has been planted; His Word never returns void. Praise the Lord!

(Michelle) When asked if there was anything he wanted me to pray for, Thiishetsho, a young man, said, “I would like to feel like God’s son again. I haven’t been living my life the way I should be.” He already knew the Lord and had been close to Him, but had drifted away for some time now. He was very sincere in his request and it touched my heart to want to pray that he could feel the Lord’s forgiveness and understanding. We prayed together for change, a special close relationship with the Lord without condemnation. When we talked I felt led to explain that the Bible says: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.” (Romans 8:1) He listened carefully to every word I said and was very encouraged to do his part to change. I offered to keep in touch and send him Bible studies by e-mail and he gladly agreed.”

OTHER REACTIONS:

One woman said “Oh wow, every year you have new ones!”  She has gotten tracts from us the last few years and remembered them well!

Lady who is a teacher liked the Activated so much she came back to the village green to find us and subscribed!

A group of young art students after reading the comic tracts: “It’s just so refreshing to see you very passionate about Jesus. You’ve shown Him in a way so attractive; totally different than many Christians of the churches we’ve met! God bless you!”

Someone took all the different tracts and was so chuffed because he said he was going to make a book out of them!

“I want you to know that you’ve answered almost all my questions, so when you go to bed tonight you can know that you did make a difference to someone.”

Acknowledgement : We realize that it was only through the power of Jesus and His Holy Spirit that we were able to reach people with His love. He is our driving force, our Miracle Worker, the love of our lives, and our Redeeming Saviour. We are merely tools in His hands. Praise God. (Ephesians 3: 20,21) Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding above all that we ask or think, according to the power that working in us, unto Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

We also want to thank each and every one of you, our dear friends and fellow-laborers, for your wonderful support and prayers.      You made all this possible and will share an equal reward in all that was accomplished.  (1Samuel 30:24b ) …as his part(reward) is that goes down to the battle, so shall his part be that stays by the stuff, they shall part (share) alike.
