The four-member outreach team to J’bay came back excited with testimonies and good results! 87 Bibles, Activated magazines, and other Gospel books and items were given out, as well as 2900 Gospel tracts! And most wonderfully of all, 11 individuals accepted Jesus as their Saviour!
Here are a few testimonies from the outreach, shared by the team.
- I met an elderly gentleman who had many siblings and family tragedies. I struggled to understand everything that he said, but I understand that their family had many hardships, moved around a lot and even though they are no longer young, they still suffer from the emotional struggles that they had in their youth. I knew that Jesus understood everything that he was explaining and more. I was able to spend time just being a listening ear, then praying for him and his family’s comfort and strength. Afterwards he looked like a big burden had been lifted and stretched out his hand, shaking mine with a big grateful smile!
- I passed by a stall with a lady selling beautiful handmade items made from shells. I felt that I need to stop by and give her a tract. Giving her a tract started up a whole thriving conversation. She began to explain that she felt it was time to go home to be with Jesus soon. I was able to encourage her that Jesus does prepare us for these things. But that we are still here for a reason. Jesus could take us up as soon as we accept Him into our lives, but we are still all here because He needs His childrenĀ to spread the gospel so that more people can be saved. She was so inspired with the conversation. I left her with my number, something to read and a stack of Gospel tracts that she can hand out too. She then kindly gave me a pretty key chain as a gift. It was my turn to feel humbled by her kindness as she shared from what little she owned.
- A friend paid for our three night accommodation in Jeffreysbay. We didn’t know our host until meeting him and he was somewhat new to renting out, as normally family and friends stay with them. Our host kindly regularly checked up on us to see if all was well. We explained why we are in Jeffreysbay and that we are walking up and down the street, being a listening ear and leading people to Jesus. He was very touched that we were in town spreading the Gospel, as he himself goes into the informal settlement and hands out food from his bakkie. He directed us to the spots in town that might be perfect for us to go. He then checked up on us to see how that went. We had had some very good conversations and we were very glad for the advice. Upon leaving we left him and his wife with some tracts in English and Afrikaans for him to hand out during his regular food hand outs.
- I approached a woman security guard. She asked for prayer for her two children. We prayed for her and her children and left her with a “Who Cares!” (messages from Jesus combined with comic art for young people) for her 15yr old teenager and something inspiring for her to read.
- A gentleman crossed the road with something he had bought from the bottle store in hand in a paper bag. He crossed just in time for us to intersect and begin talking. While chatting with him I found out that he had not yet accepted Jesus, but that he wanted to and wanted a change in his life. However, he mentionedĀ that he’s from Johannesburg and wasn’t sure if it would work. I realized that he thought that I was asking him to meet at a later day to accept Jesus. But he wasn’t going to be able to make it at a later time as he wasn’t going to be in town much longer. When I told him we could pray right now right here to accept Salvation, he instantly wanted to. So he prayed and accepted Jesus on the side of the street. Praise be to Jesus!
- I met a car guard who had done missionary work with YWAM for a year, he said that he even got a certificate with them. I could tell that he had really enjoyed his time when he had done missionary work. He now found himself in a very difficult situation, and asked for prayer. After praying, we were able to leave him with some encouraging Gospel material. As we were talking he confidently said that he felt that Jesus knew that he would be there today and arranged for us to meet and uplift him. How wonderful!
Thank you again for your prayers and support – each and every one involved! We appreciate you and are so grateful for what the Lord is doing, day by day!
